Extending the life of the properties and increasing the well-being of the residents
In Skata, Jakobstad, there are two residential buildings that go under the common name Jakobs Källa where an impressive transformation has taken place. Through this project, for which Byggservice Kronqvist was the main contractor, the two buildings have undergone an extensive facade renovation that has not only renewed their appearance but also improved the residents’ quality of life and ensured the long-term sustainability of the buildings.
“The project, which began in spring 2022, faced a number of challenges from the start. While the work was ongoing, the residents remained in their homes, which required careful planning to minimize disruptions such as drilling into the facade, etc. as much as possible.” says Peter Wik, supervisor at Byggservice. In addition, the demolition of existing roof structures and the installation of new ventilation in both buildings required careful planning and coordination to keep the work on schedule.
A key part of the renovation also included the renewal of drainage and surface water pipes during the first summer. This was a necessary measure to ensure long-term sustainability and to avoid extra measures in the future.
The ventilation systems, which are crucial for a healthy and comfortable indoor environment, also received an extensive upgrade. New ventilation shafts were built and installed on the outside alongside the balconies to improve indoor air quality for all apartments, helping to create a healthier and more comfortable living environment for residents. In addition to the new ventilation system, the property was given a facelift with blasted and painted facades, new roof sheeting and additional insulation of the rafters, which transformed Jakobs Källa into a modern and pleasant living environment.
Ebba Fastigheter, which owns the buildings, was the client for the project and worked closely with Byggservice Kronqvist and technology supplier Bravida to ensure smooth and efficient implementation.
Svante Nylund of NK Project was the architect for this project, working to create a vision of regeneration that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and sustainable in the long term.
Through carefully planned work stages and coordinated efforts, the project was successfully completed on time and within budget. The blasted and painted facades, new roof sheeting and additional insulation of the rafters are just a few of the many efforts that were made to transform Jakobs Källa into a modern and pleasant residential environment.
By the autumn of 2023, the renovation was complete and the residents of Jakobs Källa could enjoy both a renewed exterior and an improved indoor environment. Sunds Trädgård in Jakobstad also laid the paving and the green area in front of the houses to increase the sense of well-being.
The project demonstrated not only technical expertise and careful planning, but also a commitment to creating sustainable and pleasant communities for the future.
